Introduction to React Calculator Project
What is a Calculator (Project) and its Purpose?
The Calculator app is a simple React project that performs basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Its purpose is educational: by building it, you practice React fundamentals (components, state, events) while implementing real functionality.
A typical calculator app will include number buttons (0–9), operator buttons (+, –, ×, ÷), a decimal point, a percentage (%) function, and control buttons like All Clear (AC) and Backspace (C).
In our project, we will implement all these features, along with handling decimal and percentage calculations. This gives a hands-on way to learn about UI state (displaying numbers and results) and user interaction.
Aim of the Project
The aim of this project is to build a functioning calculator using React from scratch. You will learn how to set up a React development environment, create and organize components, manage state for the calculator’s display, and write the logic for arithmetic operations. The project also includes deploying the app so it is accessible online.
By completing this calculator app, you should be comfortable with using create-react-app, writing React components (with JSX), handling events (button clicks), and managing component state.
